Shorebirds are heading north in search of nesting grounds, sporting their spring duds. Many are used to seeing them dressed in winter colors such as brown and gray hues; when they see one like the Greater Yellowlegs sporting its colorful spring feathers they don’t recognize it! Now is an excellent opportunity for photographers to capture these gorgeous spring feathers as they pass by en route – taking photos first regardless of knowing who it is (using Merlin later if needed); just get those spring duds! They’ve arrived!
