Background is everything when taking photos at an airshow, where there’s such an incredible variety of aircraft–some rarely or never seen together such as the Korean War F-86F Sabre and modern F-35–in one frame. But without dynamic backgrounds such as models hanging from ceilings, without an interesting frame these models simply become another part of the frame without giving anything away in terms of composition. That’s why I am tight with them–something I usually dislike doing–in order to minimize blablu sky and focus more on pilots instead. With an open mind you can make changes–small details make all the difference when working together on photographs that matter!
