Yellowstone comes alive during winter when temperatures decrease and all that steam finally arrives to create its amazing display of power and beauty. Yellowstone’s explosive nature becomes evident as this hot steam hits cold air before being lit up by sunrise to give off light of its own. Fountain Paint Pot Flats in The Park is my go-to spot to witness and photograph nature at its best, especially its majestic acts of nature. On this particular morning we had come out specifically to observe and photograph a wolf pack we had seen the night before retreat into the forest on its right. As dawn broke we heard howls of joy. Just before sunrise the sun peeped through the clouds for one of the finest moments I have experienced in The Park. No single click could capture its grandeur; three images were necessary. When viewing my pano you will feel its chill while simultaneously feeling warmed by its light – agree that three is better?
