At ID Ranch, it was an amazing evening! Although skies were overcast and prevented any direct A2A opportunities, bourbon was brought out early anyway! Even so, briefly the sun made an appearance but quickly vanished again before ending our evening! As it appeared that our galaxy was offering us a sign, I grabbed my camera and headed out onto the grass ramp in search of parking spots to capture. Once I saw that there was a gap in the horizon, I knew the sun would soon appear in a stunningly brilliant light and there would only be enough range for one real silhouette shot to make an interesting photograph. That was when I headed towards my Staggerwing F17D with its unique paint scheme; that would be my perfect chance for success. No detail could be seen due to the light that was coming in, but anyone familiar with aviation would recognize its striking shape of fuselage and wings as strikingly beautiful. That allows me to be more creative while sparking interest among non-aviators viewers as I use shapes rather than details to tell the story of my piece. That is one advantage of telling your story using shapes rather than details.
