Yellowstone offers me an endless source of fascination as I watch the steam rise from the earth and fills the air before dissipating over short distances, only to reappear again in its original spot after traveling a short way. This process happens all year long but we only experience it when air temperatures fall to below freezing (ideally zero), like this morning at 19 degrees. Darken skies were an ideal backdrop to witness its incredible spectacle and I noticed its pillowy form not sharp at all so my shutter speed dropped to 1/20 so the trees and clouds gave space for it’s timeless story to unfold over its brief lifetime journey.
