Hummingbirds known by their local name of Snow have always captured my imagination since I first heard its name decades ago, which is one reason I came down to Costa Rica in the first place. Our initial attempt failed due to poor lighting; only females and juvies were around. But this morning with vibrant saturated light we had two males for about twenty minutes which was simply breathtaking! Taking all my horsepower I got the shot – without its tail it would have been the smallest bird, yet right now its the biggest in my heart… all within four days!
